What you’ll need to make Chocolate Peanut Butter Sea Salt Beauty
Bites
Dates: Dates add a natural sweetness to these beauty bites. They’re also deliciously sticky and help the other ingredients bind together. You’ll find dates in most no-bake ball or energy bite recipes but any type of dried fruit like mangos, apricots, or cranberries taste and work just as good. We personally like Medjool dates the best, but deglet work well too.
Copina Co. Cacao Calm Beauty: For a vegan collagen boost for your hair, skin, nails, and joints. Cacao Calm Beauty is formulated with organic cacao powder, cinnamon, coconut, hyaluronic acid, ashwagandha, and more. It’s a decadent and nourishing blend of adaptogens and botanicals to help promote collagen synthesis and encourage a sense of calm.* This sense of calm comes from Ashwagandha, an ancient medicinal herb that’s been shown to promote calm by blocking stress pathways that regulate chemical signaling in the nervous system.* The chocolate and cinnamon base notes of Cacao Calm Beauty pair perfectly and enhance all the chocolatey goodness in these beauty bites.
Almond Flour: Almond flour is a great alternative to traditional white and wheat flours to make this a gluten-free recipe. It helps bind the ingredients together and prevent it from being too runny or sticky. Any type of flour works just a good, you can also make your own almond flour by pulsing almonds in a food processor on high for a few minutes until ground into a fine powder.
Peanut Butter: The classic combination of chocolate and peanut butter is no secret, so it’s no surprise we choose peanut butter. It adds a creamy and slightly salty flavor to these beauty bites that is just simply perfection. Feel free to substitute any other nut butter like almond, cashew, or whatever you have on hand.
Protein powder (optional): Adding in your favorite protein powder is totally optional! But if you’re looking to sneak in some extra protein while being totally indulgent, this is the recipe to do so. We love the Cacao Magic from Philosophie by @sophie.jaffe
Sea Salt: A sprinkle of sea salt on top of these yummy beauty balls at the end totally completes this recipe. We use Maldon Salt but any kind works well. Sea salt helps enhance the richness of the chocolate and the creaminess of peanut butter flavor that’s truly addicting. We recommend tasting the salt level of the beauty bites beforehand (depending on the added salt content of the other ingredients) before topping with salt
How to make Chocolate Peanut Butter Sea Salt Beauty Bites
What makes this recipe so irresistible, besides the sweet and salty chocolate and peanut butter combination, is how simple it comes together! No oven is required to make this snack - just one bowl very minimal clean up (win!).
First, gather your ingredients. Measure and put all the ingredients into a food processor. Blend until the dates are completely broken down and the ingredients are mixed together. Blend for 30-60 seconds. To speed up this process, you can roughly chop the dates to help them break down quicker in the food processor.
Unplug the food processor and using an ice cream scooper or spoon, take about 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture into the palm of your hand, and roll each serving into a ball. You can make them larger or smaller or even press them into squares like a traditional bar -either way they’re delicious.
Tip: Let the mixture sit in the fridge for 30 minutes before handling to let it settle and make it easier to manage. When ready to shape into balls, spray your hands with olive oil or nonstick spray to help the mixture stay off your hands.
Press some flaky sea salt into the tops of each ball and enjoy!
Store in an airtight container in your fridge for up to a week.
