Chocolate Chai Sweet Potato Smoothie

A chocolate smoothie bowl with superfoods.

They say you are what you eat. For a long time, I never really understood what that meant, and chalked it up to just some saying about healthy eating. Little did I know, it is so much more than that. After I took charge of my own health, I realized how to fuel my body, skin and energy through good gut health.

One of the ways I practice good gut health is through morning smoothies. Starting each day with a dose of healthy vitamins, antioxidants and a whole lot of fiber revs up my system, helps me wake up, and helps boost my skin with easy-to-digest foods! Oh, and not to mention they taste amazing!

Trying out a new smoothie recipe is an exciting experience in itself, as long as you have good quality ingredients you can’t go wrong. Fortunately for you, you’re in good hands. I like to think that I’ve mastered how to make fruits and veggies taste like soft serve ice cream at this point. If you’re searching for some inspiration, here is one of my absolute favorites – the Chocolate Chai Sweet Potato Smoothie! It’s packed with cauliflower and sweet potato, as well as, a banana for an extra boost of nutrients and veggies without making your sugar levels spike like crazy. It’s ridiculously delicious and highly addictive. Hope you enjoy as much as I do.

INGREDIENTS:

1 frozen banana

½ cup frozen cauliflower

½ cup frozen steamed sweet potato

2 tbsp frozen coconut meat (optional but really good)

2 scoops of your favorite protein powder

1 tsp of Countertop Foods chai spice

½ tsp cinnamon

⅔ cup almond milk (I used Malk Organics)

2 tbsp cacao powder

DIRECTIONS:

Blend then top with Forager Project cashew yogurt, sliced almonds, coconut shreds, blood orange sliced, and Beekeepers Naturals bee pollen.
